Leather is prepared from animal skin, which is supposedly a non-auspicious item. This is the reason why leather accessories are not allowed inside the Shiva temple or even in other sacred areas. Not only this but lord shiva is also considered as Pashu Pati means lover of animals, so leather items are also not allowed in the shiva temple for this reason.
Leather is an animal-derived output that has been utilized for clothes for thousands of years. But the reality that wearing leather is a “tradition” and the bulk of species are alright with it does not bring about it well. Wearing leather is not a sin but it is wrong when you wear it when you are going to the temple or at any sacred place.

Why should we not use leather items in temples?

- Animals are not a material
Animals are someone with feelings and the ability to feel suffering. They deserve better than to be swerved into a purse, shoe, or jacket.
- Fashion should be leisure – not harmful
The common leather business slaughters more than a billion animals every year, including cows, horses, lambs, goats, pigs, and even dogs and cats.
