Organizational Learning and Knowledge Management Development

In the business world, learning is very much necessary for any organisation to increase and grow its productivity. It also brings effectiveness and the organisation gets many new ideas during any economic conditions as well as technological conditions. Uncertainty in any business is quite obvious and when there is higher uncertainty, one requires great knowledge and learning as it lowers the risk and works well when the situation is complex and gets out of hand. Learning consulting is a must. It eventually improves the organization. Communication and sharing ideas lead to effective learning and also improve understanding. Learning is more implemented in the business world rather than on any other platform.

Organisation Learning

The process where an organization tries to improve itself day by day through its experience and also by sharing ideas with the same organisation to increase its effectiveness. Organizational learning is related to transferring of knowledge within the organisation as it strengthens the organisation overall.

Three actions should be considered while organizational learning. They are as follows:

  • Conceive
  • Act
  • Reflect

Firstly an idea is thought or taken then the idea is created, and lastly, the company reflects the idea through its work. Reflection of ideas shows the process as well as the result of an organisation. Three processes occur while in organizational learning. They are as follows:

  • Knowledge creation
  • Knowledge retention
  • Knowledge transfer

The organisation must be sure that the knowledge which is obtained from this very process is kept within the organisation and can be shifted when required. The knowledge transferred by the individual cannot be transferred properly as the idea of that particular individual will vanish along with the individual. Ideas that are enclosed can be kept safely and can be discussed with the organisation.

Knowledge Management Development

The course of action where a business manages its knowledge which includes its capture, storage, organisation, verification, security, distribution, and use. When this process gets effective, it provides precise and useful decision-making. We can say that all these processes increase the chance of communication as well as efficiency both internally and externally.

Few Steps in knowledge management processes:

  • Discovery – Discovery is the first process of knowledge management. It is the process by which information from data can be taken which is useful for the organisation’s communication, operation as well as the relationship between them.
  • Capture – This is the next step in which capturing knowledge is a must that an organisation already has within each individual, team member, and employee. Also, gaining external knowledge can be well documented and communicated.
  • Organisation – organisation is a must for any company to grow. It means details of each information. Also, classification, categorizing, and indexing information is a part of an organisation as it can be navigated, reused, and shared among the employees.
  • Assessment – Assessment of knowledge for better business decisions and to improve both internal and external processes. This process means merging any information and ensuring that the organisation must apply complete, consistent, and up-to-date information.
  • Sharing – Sharing of knowledge increases the chance of organisation development. The one who is selected for the organisation, information must be shared with that individual as it gives them the appropriate knowledge, and also the individual will apply potentially for the benefit of the company.
  • Reuse/application – Reuse of knowledge is efficient only when it is applied properly. It will increase efficiency, improve business and complete any task for the employee and customer.
  • Creation – Creation is a process where each individual in the organisation practices and navigates their ideas through their experiences. That knowledge can be reused and implied which will create more ideas and will be beneficial for the organisation.

Organizational learning focuses on teams and organisations that gradually become smarter day by day. This depends on individual learning. Knowledge management development focuses on knowledge itself. It focuses on an individual’s experience and collects knowledge that is in their mind. Elearning content development is also a factor that eventually increases the chance of organisation development.

It may not convince today’s professionals but it’s worth understanding as both knowledge management and organizational learning development can be achieved to meet the business goals.
