Introduction
When we think of “taping” our face, we may imagine a superhero with a bandage over their nose. In reality, facial taping is when you use tape to lift the skin on your face and reduce wrinkles and other signs of aging. There are many different types of facelift tapes out there, including ones that promise instant results or require professional help. But can facelift tape really make your face look younger? And does it work for everyone? We decided to find out by asking plastic surgeon Dr. Jean Loh-Hwang from The Plastic Surgery Group in NYC about his experience using this technique in his practice…
What is facial taping?
Facial taping is a technique that can help with the appearance of wrinkles. Facial tapes are thin, elastic strips that can be used to help reduce the appearance of lines around the mouth, eyes and cheeks. Facial tapes are also known as wrinkle tapes or skin rejuvenation tape.
Do you have to be a celebrity to get a facial tape job?
Whether you get your face taped in a spa or salon, at home or by a doctor, there are some key things to keep in mind:
Taping is not a surgical procedure. It doesn’t involve any cutting or stiches and does not require anesthesia.
You can tape your own face if you’re comfortable doing so. There are many videos online that show how to do this yourself (like this one).
A plastic surgeon often performs facial tapes on his/her patients—but they usually charge more than other types of providers since they have more experience with what works best and have access to different kinds of tape as well as special tools needed during the procedure itself.
Can I tape my own face — and if so, how do I do it?
Sure, you can tape your own face…but that doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. Taping your own face means that you are in charge of the taping and the removal of the tape. The danger here is that getting it wrong could lead to skin irritation or even infection.
In addition, taping can cause scarring and damage to underlying tissue (such as when trying to lift an eyebrow). If you have an acne condition such as rosacea or seborrheic dermatitis, do not use heat on your face as this may make these conditions worse. Also don’t use any kind of chemical peel on your skin before using facial tapes; this could cause irritation from having two different types of products interacting with one another.
Can facelift tape make the signs of aging disappear overnight?
Facelift taping can temporarily reduce the appearance of wrinkles and improve the appearance of your skin. It’s not an overnight cure, but it can help you look more refreshed for a few days.
Taping is not a long-term solution to wrinkles. It won’t change the structure of your face or address aging issues like sagging skin or drooping eyelids.
Taping can cause bruising, swelling, redness and allergic reactions in some people. If you experience any side effects from taping your face, stop using it immediately and see your doctor for treatment options.
Taping your face might not be a good long term solution.
Facial taping is not a long term solution for wrinkles, even though it might seem like one. The tape lifts the skin slightly and helps to fill out any sagging areas, but after you remove the tape, your skin will return to its original state very quickly. If you want to avoid plastic surgery in the future, I recommend getting Botox injections or laser treatments at least once per year.
Conclusion
It’s clear that facial taping is a popular trend, but it’s not something we recommend doing at home. Facial tape can be used to help tighten loose skin temporarily and smooth wrinkles, but it’s not a long-term solution. If you’re looking for more permanent results from facelift tape, then you’ll need to consult with a plastic surgeon or dermatologist who specializes in this procedure.
