Tips To Stay Healthy In An Office Job
Are you frustrated because you feel like you’re unable to maintain your fitness and stay healthy because you are at your desk all day? Have you felt exhausted to exercise after an exhausting day at work? Do you find yourself wanting sweets and junk food following an eventful day? There’s no reason to be. I’m a health coach however, my entire professional experience involves working in the corporate environment, so I’m aware of the difficulty of maintaining a healthy body working in an office very well.
While you’re working for the entire day, doesn’t mean that you aren’t able to stay fit and slim. All you need is to make simple healthy lifestyle and routine modifications. So here’s my method for staying fit even when you work in an office:
1. Have breakfast.
This is an essential element of a healthy and balanced lifestyle. A healthy breakfast can give you the energy needed to make it through the beginning of the day . It also helps keep you fuller for longer. This will reduce the urge to indulge in convenient and sometimes unhealthy snacks before lunch.
2. Get rid of sweet snacks and candy.
Yes, they are delicious, but they aren’t satisfying to the fullest and are quickly digested which can cause an up and down of sugar lows and highs. Instead of going to the vending machine, take healthy snacks at home such as small carrots or cheese pieces nuts and cucumber slices, hummus, fresh or cut up fruit, small quantities of dried fruit and salty crackers. If you’re not able to endure an afternoon of sleep in the office, a little of dark chocolate will not harm.
3. Take your own lunch.
Restaurant meals usually come with large portions and high-calorie options. You can be healthier and save money when you cook the meals yourself.
4. Beware of sodas and sweet drinks.
They can keep you alert while working, and you might like their flavor. However, they don’t really provide any benefits and are packed with empty calories, mostly in the form of sugar. If you’re in need of caffeine, you might want to consider coffee (but do not go overboard) and green tea.
5. Get plenty of fluids.
It’s good for you. It aids in filling your stomach, and can keep your mind away from caffeine or soda. It could aid in battling other cravings, as well. The reason for sleepiness is usually dehydration, therefore, make sure to stay well-hydrated. If you’re looking for a taste make lemon, lime or cucumber slices in your drink bottle.
6. Do as much that you are able to.
Take a walk around in the office and stretch out every now and again. Pause each hour or so, to move and stretch your muscles. Utilize every chance to burn off calories. Get moving while waiting for the programs on your computer to be loaded. If you have talk about something to a coworker, you can go to their desk rather than making a call and sending them an email. If you have to move to another floor of the building, you can take the stairs instead elevator. You might consider partnering with a colleague at work to make regular breaks for exercise and to inspire one another. If you commute by car you can park further away in the parking lot and walk the steps up to the floor.
7. As tall as you are able to.
It’s healthier than sitting. It’s good for your back and also burns more calories. Switch your chair to the exercise ball. It will help strengthen your abs and improve balance. It is also possible to purchase standing desks to sit more often while doing.
8. Make sure you are as active as you possibly can in your spare time.
Take a look at taking a morning workout rather than after an extended working day. Training can be done in a gym or even better, consider taking a walk in the nature taking a walk or jog. Relaxing from the stresses of work and getting your eyes off from fluorescent and blue lights can be a great way to relax.
If you’re feeling stressed, do some breathing exercises or meditate. Spending time with family and friends or reading a book or listening to music or cooking something healthy will help you relax. Avoid watching TV if you’ve been working at a desk for the entire the day.
9. Sleep enough.
A fresh and energetic start in the morning could assist in avoiding cravings for caffeine and binge cravings later on in the day.
10. Place inspiring quotes or images in your work space.
Create your own bulletin board to remind you to focus upon your fitness and fitness goals.
