Grahan Village Trek: Weekend Trek in Kasol
Introduction
Grahan Village is situated amidst the Parvati Valley in the town of Kasol at an altitude of around 7,700 feet above the sea level. You will come to know that the trail shares its south border with Kullu Tehsil, Lahaul Tehsil in the north and Spiti Tehsil in the eastern parts. Grahan village also serves as the first campsite to the infamous Sar Pass trek which is about 20 km hike from Grahan Village.
On an average it is a 10 km series of upward ascent from Kasol to Grahan Village. The 4 to 5 hours of trek is a unique experience in its kind apart from trekking in Kasol. The quaint and humble wooden houses will take you to a different world as you know it. The trail takes you through meadows, deep forest, bridges over the Grahan nallah and many more exciting things. Grahan Village is a story on its own in the months of April to December which also marks the peak tourist season in and around Kasol.
The Grahan Village trek makes its base near the bridge at the right side of the Parvati river from Kasol. You will come across many bridges that are needed to cross the flowing water stream of the Grahan Nallah that will keep you company throughout your trail. Summers are also quite pleasant on this journey toward Grahan Village with many wildflowers blooming and lighting up the way with vibrant colours. The refreshing rhythmic sound of the water stream along with the views of the snow-capped mountains will keep you motivated. If you are one of the bird-lovers then you will definitely enjoy the bird chirping happily on your way to the village. You can spot some shepherds with their cattle grazing in the meadows.
